PhD Student Bea and Ben, attended the Glycobiology Gordon Research Conference titled "Biological Roles of Glycans as Major Building Blocks of Life" from the 11th-17th March.

Ben was invited to present a talk regarding the group's most recent updates titled "Cell-specific Bioorthogonal Tagging of Glycoproteins. - EMBO Young Investigator lecture" at the conference whist Bea presented a poster of her PhD work thus far at the Glycobiology Gordon Research Seminar titled "Mapping the Functional Glycome in Health and Disease". Bea also presented a short talk at the seminar around her work and was awarded the Best Talk award!

Overall, the seminar and conference discussed the latest progress in understanding the functional role of glycans in health and disease as well as highlighting the emerging methodologies for glycan synthesis and analysis. It was a fantastic experience to hear about all the cutting-edge science taking place in the field and a great opportunity to network with scientists of all career stages from institutes all around the world.
