Anna Cioce
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Anna received her Master degree in Chemical Science in 2014 from the University Federico II of Naples (Italy) with a major focus on organic synthesis. In 2015, she started her PhD within the IMMUNOSHAPE Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network at CIC biomaGUNE under the supervision of Dr. Niels Reichardt and Prof. Dr. Jesús Jiménez-Barbero.
During her PhD, she mainly worked on the development of a microarray-based tool for the chemo-enzymatic synthesis of N-glycans mimetics with improved C-type lectin binding properties. In 2019, she joined the Schumann Lab at the Francis Crick Institute and The Imperial College of London as Research Associate. She is actually working on the development of a cell-type specific tool for glycoproteins analysis by employing the well-established bump-and-hole strategy. During her spare time, she likes reading, painting and baking. Her favorite glycan is the N-acetyl-D-Galactosamine (GalNAc), the initial glycan core of one of the most intriguing glycoprotein families named mucins.
